My Constant Joint Pain Disappeared In 3 Weeks Just By Making This Change To My Diet

At age 55, I had reached a point where I didn't feel good and knew I had to do something. My blood pressure had been borderline high for 5 years, I'd gained 20 pounds, had arthritis in my hands, constant joint and neck pain, persistent bloating, and allergies and postnasal drip. I was determined to do something for my health, but I needed help getting started.

That means my husband—who volunteered to do the program with me—and I cut out everything except protein shakes, vegetables, and fruit for 2 entire weeks. I'd always thought I was a pretty healthy eater before this, but suddenly having to focus on fruits and vegetables meant I became a lot more creative with my cooking. It was during the first 2 weeks that I started to notice how much better I was feeling, and then I happened to look down at my hands and realized they were no longer swollen. The arthritis had gotten to the point that my hands constantly ached, and often I'd ice my hands after spending a day in my garden—but after the detox, I was pain-free. I was stunned.

After the 2-week reset phase, we were able to start reintroducing different foods back into the diet. When we could have dark chocolate, I ate a bit, 4 days in a row. After the fourth day, my arthritis pain was back, so bad that I had to use the cold compresses again. It was unbelievable. I had almost forgotten what pain was like because I hadn't had it for over a month. I'm sure the sugar brought my inflammation back. I don't ever want to have that feeling in my hands again, so it hasn't been hard to eliminate sugar because of how good I feel. (Try this low-impact exercise to eliminate pain for good.)

Along with healing my joint pain, I ended up losing 20 pounds and 13.5 inches during the first 2 months of the plan, and I've kept it off. I'm no longer bloated, and my stomach is flat. My blood pressure has returned to normal. I have more energy, and I feel so much better about myself. My allergies are gone, and to keep them at bay, I drink hot lemon water with a teaspoon of local honey every morning. I've learned to love roasted veggie chips for dipping into hummus or guacamole, making my own nut butters, spreads, and pestos, as well as scouring the internet for recipes—discovering healthy ways to prepare meals has become my new hobby. I'm convinced that food can heal us. I look and feel like my old self again.
