Show report: Giorgio Armani A/W’12
Declaring in the show notes that 'the modern woman loves to dress in androgynous and masculine clothes, yet she doesn’t want to sacrifice feminine subtlety and lightness,' Giorgio Armani went on to achieve this today with his 'easy chic' collection
Declaring in the show notes that ‘the modern woman loves to dress in androgynous and masculine clothes, yet she doesn’t want to sacrifice feminine subtlety and lightness,’ Giorgio Armani went on to achieve this today with his ‘easy chic’ collection.
Known for his use of monochrome and neutrals, Armani’s A/W’12 colour palette was something of a shock with its zingy pinks, magentas and oranges. Teamed with masculine tailored trousers, the tunic style tops in their bright hues were refreshing and showed how to master that boy-meets-girl look.
Similar to his S/S’12 collection, the models wore jaunty wide-brimmed hats which added to their ‘bad-girl’ attitude.
It was the dresses that really popped, both in attitude and colour. A-line dresses, some with ruffle pleated shoulders, were teamed over long boyish shorts, while more fitted styles shimmered and sparkled down the runway.
Velvets, organza and coloured fur pelts draped casually yet elegantly gave the collection a luxurious feel.
And, as Giorgio Armani knows, the modern woman may want ‘easy chic’ but easy luxe chic is even more of a winner.
